3 Days Aberdare Walking Safari

Day 1: REEDBUCK

From Nairobi, drive to Aberdare National Park. Enter the park through Ruhuruini Gate and take a game drive in the lower forested region (the Salient) where wildlife is abundant and and more easily visible.  The park is rich in alpine flora, fauna and scenic features that including magnificent waterfalls. We stay overnight at Reedbuck campsite.

Day 2: HONI RIVER

After breakfast, drive to the Karuru - Matubio junction to start 4-5 hours hike on the moorland track that is dotted with giant heather, tussock grass, open forest glades and rose wood to arrive at the Honi river for overnight in tents. The hike offers opportunities to encounter buffaloes, elephant and many antelopes.

Day 3: NAIROBI

After breakfast we drive on a steep old track through the forest for 2 hours up the Chebuswa peak. At the road head we embark on 2-3 hour trek to Le Satima peak at 4001m. This is the highest peak of the Aberdare mountain ranges and on a clear day you can see Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro on the horizon and even Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru and the Daiga hills. Later descend and connect with a transfer vehicle off the mountain.
