6 days Mount Kilimanjaro Machame Route

Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak 5895m. Ascend by the Machame route and descend by the Mweka route. There are no huts for accommodation, instead, camping grounds and toilets.

Mount KilimanjaroDAY 1: MACHAME GATE {1800m} - MACHAME CAMP {3000m}

Leave Arusha at 9:00am for transfer to Machame Gate, where you will be introduced to your guide and porters. After registration, we start our trek through the rain forest until we arrive at the Machame camp. The trek takes between 4 and 5 hours during which we stop for a picnic lunch. Later we take an afternoon walk up to a higher altitude for acclimatization after which we return to the Machame camp for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: MACHAME CAMP (3000m)-SHIRA CAMP (3800m)

After breakfast we trek for 4-5 hours to Shira camp.

DAY 3:SHIRA  (3800m)- BARANCO CAMPp(3950m)

Leave after breakfast for a 3-4 hour hike through semi glaciated and sandy areas to Baranco camp.

DAY 4: BARRANCO (3950m) - BARAFU CAMP (4600m)

After breakfast we climb again for between 4and 5 hours, with a picnic lunch en route. This climb is across a glacier. Eventually we arrive at the Barafu camp for dinner and overnight.

DAY-5: BARAFU (4600m)-UHURU-PEAK (5895m)-MWEKA CAMP (3100m)

Early wake up call at around 1:00am and a light breakfast before starting the final ascent to the summit. The Stella Point is reached in approximately 5 to 6 hrs and a further ascent to the Uhuru Peak reached in another 45minutes(approx). After signing and a short rest at Barafu camp, we descend to the Gilman's Point for an hour's rest and another light breakfast, before our final descent of the day to   take dinner and stay overnight at the Mweka camp.

DAY 6: MWEKA (3100m)-MWEKA GATE - ARUSHA

After breakfast we make the final descent to Mweka Gate where we say "Goodbye" to the guides and porters.  You are then transferred back to Arusha.
