7 Days Samburu, Rift Valley And Masai Mara
FAMILY HOLIDAYS
Day 1: SAMBURU
From Nairobi, drive through agricultural country to Mt Kenya for lunch. Then a 3-4 hour drive further north to Samburu Game Reserve. On arrival, do a late afternoon game drive en route to our camp by the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight bush camp
Day 2: SAMBURU
Whole day of game drives in Samburu. Samburu Park lies in the semi-arid north and is habitat to some rare and endemic animal species such as Gerenuk, Grevy zebra and Beisa Oryx. It's the home of Kamuniak, the famous lioness who adopted a baby Oryx. Dinner and overnight bush camp
Day 3: SWEETWATERS
Morning game drive as we leave Samburu for a 4 hour drive to Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary. We take lunch then an afternoon game drive. Sweetwaters occupies part of the Laikipia plains and is a rehabilitation centre for chimpanzees. Other resident wildlife are elephant, leopard, rhino, giraffe, impala etc. We stay overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.
Day 4: LAKE NAKURU
Leave after breakfast for a 3-4 hours drive to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru is a world famous bird and rhino sanctuary where thousands of flamingos congregate to feed on Spirulina platensis, a blue-green alga that grows naturally in the lake. Found here as well are plenty of other interesting wildlife and birds such as the white rhino, leopard, lion, waterbuck, buffalo, impala, warthog, pelicans and a plethora of other birds. Camp overnight inside the park.
Day 5: MASAI MARA
Morning game drive. Then transfer to Masai Mara for late afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at our Camp
Day 6: MASAI MARA
Early start for a full day's game drive. The vast grassland plains of the Mara are scattered with herds of Zebra, Giraffe, Gazelle & Topi as well as Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Elephant & Buffalo amongst others. Each year the Mara plays host to the world's greatest natural spectacle, the Great Wildebeest Migration from the Serengeti. After an exciting day of game drives we return to our camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: NAIROBI
Morning game drive. Leave after breakfast for the return journey to Nairobi.
